Community Involvement

Paying forward the opportunities an individual is lucky enough to experience for themselves, to others who may not have such fortune, is a value the faculty of Carlbrook School work hard to instill into many facets of its curriculum. As such, involvement with local community service projects, through volunteerism and frequent fundraising campaigns are a vital part of campus life.

On-Going Community Service Initiatives

Each week Carlbrook students are given an allowance to purchase items from the campus store for their own personal enjoyment. In teaching the importance of giving to those less fortunate, students can exercise the option whenever they see fit to donate this allowance to the charity of their choosing. As a result, Carlbrook School makes regular donations on behalf of its students to a variety of organizations. Charities frequently supported monetarily by students in this regard include: Nothing but Nets, The Boys and Girls Club of America, DOVES, Inc. and the Halifax County SPCA.

Opportunities for volunteerism are routinely incorporated into weekend activities, as well as during each break between academic terms. A wide range of initiatives have allowed for Carlbrook students to become regular contributors to many local charities. Frequent visits to the local food bank give students the opportunity to spend time helping to organize the pantry and serve food to local community members. The Boys and Girls Club of Danville, VA and The Danville Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) are both favorites among Carlbrook students, who are always eager to spend time with children in need and rescued animals.

The students of Carlbrook School are creative in their organization of fundraising campaigns, which have included several campus wide events supporting such important causes as The American Cancer Society, DOVES, Inc. and The American Red Cross disaster relief funds.  To learn more about the efforts of Carlbrook students, follow the charitable events and student initiatives on Carlbrook School's Blog.
